Project Description

The Athens Regional Medical Center expanded its properties with a new two story patient tower and ~100,000 square foot clinical services expansion space which included patient rooms, two operating suites, and a patient administrative services department.  The new facility is approximately 120,000 square feet in size and the project was completed in 2010.

J&A Engineering was responsible for the design of facility-wide nurse call systems, wireless telephone systems, public address and telecommunication infrastructure systems.  The telecommunication infrastructure systems included copper and fiber inside plant and outside plant cabling systems and CATV distribution systems.

The new facility required the design of numerous security systems including digital based video surveillance systems, electronic intrusion detection, intercommunication systems, and access control systems.  J&A Engineering was also responsible for all electric door hardware coordination.

The total construction cost of all engineered systems was approximately $2.0 Million.  All new systems were required to be integrated with the existing hospital buildings.
